Intel has unveiled a new concept portable PC called the Metro Notebook, an ultra-slim and ultra-light notebook. The Core2 duo-based laptop has a leather cover with a high-resolution 'e-ink' LCD display built into the back of the main LCD screen. Basicaly the display is a Microsoft Vista SideShow-enabled device, allowing to run any standard SideShow gadget.

The small size and the embedded screen on the cover aren't anything new as already seen on Asus W5fe sideshow compatible notebooks. Unlike other sideshow embedded screens this display uses color e-ink technology that it need little or no power since it only draws on the battery when the page is updated. This means you could power this display for days / weeks without ever turning on your laptop!.

When the notebook is powered down, the embedded Microsoft Sideshow (Vista OS required) screen continues to give the user access to email, eBooks, appointment calendar, and much more.  Much more the SideShow display is completely removable, connected trhough a dock connector that's also able to host USB connections.

The Metro Notebook is super thin 0.7 inches laptop, designed to be used mostly as an wireless device with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and WiMax antennas built in, which make it great for users who can and easily connetct to the Internet and check email from anywhere.

If all of these didn't get your interest keep in mind Intel palns to go furture by including an inductive connection-less charging pad which would allow you to recharge your phone or PDA simply by placing up on the notebook.

Currently, Intel's E-ink notebook is only a prototype and I personally think that this device is not yet mass produced...
