echatter sideshowDesigned for composing emails and sending instant messages, the MK140 eChatter is another excellent Microsoft SideShow compatible device prototype . Ricavision has partnered with Microsoft to show off a new Wireless Handheld Chatting concept device. Based on the WinBond Sideshow-compatible MCU solution, the eChatter is designed under Microsoft's reference specifications.

The device will connect to your vista PC trough a wireless connection letting you to access your Vista pc from a QWERTY-layout thumb keyboard and displaying the information on the on the 5.0" WQVGA LCD display. And being designed for chatting purpose just cannot it be missing message voice support. The Ricaviciosn eChatter device features a voice communication audio handset.

I'm not a big fan of chatting but I really like the idea using an auxiliary display to read favorite news, compose emails and messaging with your friends. It is not much to say yet about this prototype, the Ricavision didn't disclose more information about the functionalities. It is not clear yet how actually these external screens are running on windows vista pc, how you can access the information, and how it synchronizes with the vista pc.

“With the range of capabilities opened up by Windows Vista, we can create even more devices to enhance users’ Windows Vista experience,” said Alicia Mellor, VP of Sales. “By coordinating with Microsoft, we feel confident that our new MK140 eChatter will provide Windows Vista users with enhanced functionality and significant value.”

These devices look like some big and interesting project but again no word on pricing or availability.
